The FSYFL continually reviews its operations each year and endeavors to improve the tournament for everyone. The following changes will take place for the 2013 season:

TWO MAJOR CHANGES

1. New Division 2 (Developmental) Tournament - The FSYFL will add a Division 2 tournament for developmental teams. The tournament will have a 2 week playoff schedule. Division 2 tournament teams will not compete for a State Championship but rather Division 2 Bowl Trophies within the four FSYFL regions. A trophy will be awarded for each of the Regional champions. For full details of the differences between two tournaments CLICK HERE. For a graphic of the D1 & D2 Playoff formats CLICK HERE

2. Cheerleading has now been added - The FSYFL will now recruit cheerleading teams to participate at season games, to also include a Cheerleading Competition to be held over the FSYFL State Championship weekend. All documents related to cheerleading are in the Coaches Documents Library. CHEERLEADING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. For the Cheerleaders Coaches What to do Packet CLICK HERE Cheerleaders will have opportunity to perform in the FSYFL State Championship games.

OTHER CHANGES

1. Optional Friday Night Games – The FSYFL will now offer the opportunity to play games on Friday nights in the Tampa/Pinellas/Pasco markets. This is optional. The standard FSYFL schedule format will still remain on Saturdays but if you are interested in playing Friday night games please email sandy@youthspringfootball.com

2. FSYFL Pro Bowl Event – The FSYFL Pro Bowl event will be upgraded to include additional activities as well as the winning teams being awarded a Pro Bowl trophy.

3. FSYFL State Championship Improvements -The FSYFL State Championship will now be a weekend event, with a Cheer competition, Agility camp, JV and Varsity Saturday Night “Under the Lights” games. This will provide more entertainment events for all FSYFL State Championship attendees.

- Sat 4/20 Morning – Cheerleading Competition

- Sat 4/20 Morning - Speed and Agility Camp

- Sat 4/20 Evening - JV and Varsity State games dubbed “Saturday Night under the Lights” and Pro Bowl Team Selections

- Sun 4/21 Daytime – FSYFL Mitey Mite – Midget State Championships and Pro Bowl Selections

4. FSYFL Weights and Ages – The FSYFL has increased their weight levels for each of the divisions to more closely align with the standard fall league process that allows players to add some weight each week of the fall season. For the new FSYFL weights CLICK HERE

5. FSYFL Certifications - In order to continue our efforts to streamline our certification processes to stop any unfair practices the following new certification rules will apply in 2013:

- All Certifications of players paperwork will now be handled by specific FSYFL Certification offices that are separate from the game time check ins processes. Players paperwork now must be completed prior to game time starts at these separate certification offices. The FSYFL will offer 3 alternatives for certifications. 1) The FSYFL Travelling Certification Road Show will come to every city one time prior to the season start. 2) FSYFL Certification offices will open in all cities for at least 2 days in the 2 weeks prior to season start. 3) Certification offices at most major fields for the first 4 weeks of the season.

- Game time check ins will be for Certified players only and will now be done immediately prior to a game start and players will be checked onto the game field, and the game started immediately.

- In the past FSYFL allowed for Birth Certificate copies that are stamped by a fall program, as well as those with past FSYFL season stamps. The FSYFL will no longer allow this. All players must now produce original birth certificates and a Picture ID copy to become certified (for younger players parents ID’s will qualify) See FSYFL Certification Rules for more information.

6. Minimum Games for Post Season Play - Players must have appeared in a minimum of 3 regular season games to be allowed to advance to the post season playoff games. Waivers for injuries may be allowed under certain circumstances.

7. Inside the 5 yard defensive rules- Once a team is defending within 5 yards or less of their own field of play, the unique FSYFL defensive blitzing restrictions will revert to standard NFHS rules. To see new rule on this CLICK HERE

8. FSYFL Fees – The FSYFL has maintained their player fees at the same level for the past 4 seasons and due to rising costs we are unfortunately having to increase our fees this year. The new fees for 2013 will be increased by $10 from $125 per player for teams using their own jerseys and to $135 per player for teams using FYSFL jerseys.

9. FSYFL Schedule Guarantee Deposit – Prior to the season the FSYFL will require each team to pay a $100 “Schedule Guarantee Deposit” that will be fully refundable at the end of the season. In the event a team fails to show up for a game their guarantee deposit will be given to the opposing team for travel fees for the forfeited game. Teams that attend all their games will have their fee refunded at the end of the season.

10. Coaches Badges – Coaches badges will now be limited to 7 badges per team.
